Herman, Michael

Son of-Dora and Haim-Heinrich, was born in Belgium. His birthday and details of his occupation are unknown. When the Nazis invaded Belgium, he fled to France and from there to Spain. He was 16 years old when he stole the border to Franco’s Spain. He was immediately arrested and held there for two years, until the choice was made: to immigrate to Canada or immigrate to Israel. He chose to immigrate to Israel. After six months in Israel, he enlisted in the British Army, was stationed in the Jewish Brigade and accompanied her on her way to the time of liberation. It seems that the Brigade visited the district of his childhood. On his days in Israel, ever since he returned to civilian life until his enlistment in the War of Independence, there is no more information. During the War of Independence he trained and served as a company medic in the Givati ​​Brigade. Michael was seriously wounded during his tour of one of the enemy villages in south Tel Aviv during Operation “Hametz” to encircle and defeat Jaffa. He was transferred to a hospital in Tel Aviv where he died on April 27, 1948. He was laid to rest at the Nahalat Yitzhak Military Cemetery.
