Helman, Uri

Ben Meira and Michael. He was born on November 2, 1974 in Ra’anana. Old son, brother to Iris and Eyal. Uri began his studies at the Bar-Tov elementary school in Ra’anana, and continued in the Rimon Middle School and at the Ostrovsky High School in Ra’anana, where he studied in the real-world track. From his childhood, Uri was fond of those around him, a man and a living-snail snail, nursed the birds and chicks that fell from the trees, bred dogs, rabbits, mice. As a child he was sure he would be a bird, because of his love for birds. Later he aspired to be a veterinarian. In his youth, he specialized in birds of prey, he followed them on his many walks, during which he always called parents and shared the experiences of the journey. Uri grew up and became a tall, handsome and strong guy. An island of support and generosity. Always willing to help and lend a hand, warm to his family and friends. A loving son, who is not ashamed to reveal his feelings, is involved in the life of his family with all his soul. “How did you embrace us and you could always say that you love us very much, each of us and everyone together,” his mother writes. Uri loved to spend time with his brother, the two found common topics of conversation and did not give up the clashes even as they grew up. “It was just so fun to be with you, everything could be done with you,” his brother Eyal wrote. Love of life was Uri, energetic, full of ideas and plans. Enjoying food in considerable quantities, from entertainment and sports. Uri made strong connections with his friends from childhood, which lasted until the army. It was loyal, close friends, friends who would do everything for each other. “We shared feelings,” wrote his friend Ariel. “When each of us is at a great distance from each other, we still felt things at the same time …” With longing, Ariel describes Uri as “the inner strength that appears and bursts out of his eyes, You’re with him… “In adolescence, Uri was discovered by the romantic side. “Heartbreaking” was defined by his friend Niva. He accompanied his friends before and during the military course, and each of them was connected to the entire family. Even after the “official” companies were cut off, Uri kept in touch with his friends: “How did you always find a place for everyone in your wide and wonderful heart and you were always ready to listen and help,” recalls Ganit, his first girlfriend. Uri joined the Artillery Corps in late 1992. He served as a gunner and chose to go to an officer’s course, which he successfully completed in the middle of 1994. As his father and brother before him, Uri also became an artillery officer. “I was so proud … You’re so smart and tall and beautiful and strong and talented and athletic!” Says his friend Yael. Uri served in Lebanon for a year as an artillery co-operative. He was first stationed in Marjayoun and later in one of the southern Lebanese border areas. During this period he encountered encounters with terrorists, and three times he was miraculously saved. He wanted to move to another position or to be trained, but because of the quality of his work and the seriousness and involvement he displayed, it was decided to leave him in Lebanon. Lt. Col. Ofer Dvir, the commander of the Liaison Unit in Lebanon, wrote that he always expressed his opinion, with the enthusiasm and strength of a true believer, and left a strong impression of energy and energy. It was very difficult for him to get the answer: Uri, wait. He immediately started to run them all the time, pushing and pressing for permits for the actions he wanted to perform. Bouncy, frantic, unable to accept others who do not perform their duties as earnestly and fully as he does. When he was busy or focused on something, he could not be moved from it. And always performed the tasks in a strict, perfect manner. Lieutenant-Colonel Dvir jokes about Uri’s determination: Uri needs a map. And it is precisely a certain passage, which is found in the encounter of four different maps … Uri Forres, a cutter, organizer, and finally, a giant map, he creates a mapThe battalion’s deputy commander, Major Yuval Bazak, said that from the moment he arrived at the Barak Battalion of the Golani Brigade, Uri acted vigorously and without hesitation. He became a major delegate at the battalion headquarters and excelled in excellent interpersonal relations. “Love, this is the only word in which our relationship to Uri could be defined,” wrote Major Bezek, “far beyond the normal working relations that are in our place.” On the 4th of Adar 5756 (March 4, 1996), Lieutenant Uri Hellman fell in a battle in Lebanon, during a chase after a terrorist squad that reached the border and tried to attack the northern communities. The explosion of explosives detonated from a distance caused his death. He was twenty-one years old when he fell. Along with him were Lieutenant Colonel Amer Amir, advanced sergeant Fuaz Muhammad, and First Sergeant Jum’a Mahmoud. Uri left behind his parents, sister Iris and brother Eyal. Uri was laid to rest in the Kiryat Shaul military cemetery. After his death, the IDF gave his family a certificate of appreciation and honor, stating: “Uri saw his service as a mission, and carried it with devotion and love. Always dedicated and devoted, devoted himself to increasing the strength of the IDF and nurturing its spirit, when the good of the state before his eyes. “I want you to come back just one more time, that I can hug you one last time and tell you that you were a true friend, close as a brother, as sensitive as a mother and just as we were together.” Lieutenant Colonel Ofer Dvir wrote in his memory: “As with all his acquaintances, Uri left me an indelible impression: his personality, character and work were things that can not be ignored when he was with us and can not be forgotten when he left us.” His family published a memorial book in his memory.
