Heller, Rachel (‘Rucha’)
Daughter of Jacob and Dina. She was born on the 8th of Sivan 5706 (June 8, 1955) in Ramat Gan. She began her elementary studies at the Netaim School. After two years of study, Rachel moved with her family to Bat Yam, where she continued to study for another year at the Geulim School. She completed her elementary studies at the Ed Gordon School in Daughter of-Yam, then began high school at the Ironi Aleph school in Givatayim and completed it in the Ironi Tuv High School with a humanistic track. Rachel was a member of the Scouts for six years, and during her studies she worked in various capacities – among them a youth counselor, sports instructor and statistician. Rachel was drafted into the IDF in late July 1974. After basic training she was assigned to a teaching unit and in early 1974 she joined a course for practical teachers that was held in Haifa. On 24.10.1974 she fell in her service in the area of Kibbutz Sdot Yam and was brought to rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem, leaving behind her parents, two sisters, and a brother in a letter of condolences to the bereaved family.
