Heller, Henig
Son of Sheindel and David, was born in 1923 in the city of Dukla, west of Galicia, Poland. He studied at Heder and at the elementary school, and later worked as a laborer in a bakery. Like many others, he was uprooted from his place of residence at the outbreak of the Second World War in 1939. He was taken to the camps, forced to work and survived despite suffering and distress. After the war, he joined the Hapoel Hamizrahi group in one of the DP camps in Europe and waited for his turn to immigrate to Israel. When the War of Independence broke out he showed up for Hagana training somewhere in Italy or in southern France. In the middle of October, Operation Yoav was carried out with the aim of breaking through the Negev, and the effort was concentrated in the eastern sector, and its unit was assigned to occupy Iraq Al-Manshiyya. And on this day he fell, on the 16th of Tishrei, 5709 (October 16, 1948.) On the 17th of Kislev 5710 (8.12.1949) he was brought to eternal rest in the Nahalat Yitzhak military cemetery.
