Zvi son of Tamar and Simcha was born in Herzliya on April 23, 1953. In his early years, he excelled in great alertness and an extraordinary talent for his age, which was expressed in kinder garden, at parties and performances, and in the rapid absorption of the alphabet. During the period of elementary school, he studied at the Herzliya Municipal High School, where he excelled especially in the real professions. At the end of his ninth grade, Zvika took part in a brigade commanders’ course that was held in Glilot and was certified as a physical education instructor, in order exercises, in camping and overcoming obstacles, and after two years he moved to the School of Practical Engineering at Tel Aviv University and was praised by many teachers who enjoyed a gifted student He was very fond of the “society” because of his involvement, his simplicity, his charming smile, his help to his friends and his great activity in social evenings, and when he was in 11th grade he joined the Pai Club, Near Tel Aviv University. He won the first prize in the final competition and took advantage of this prize for the purchase of many books he wanted. He brought him to a science-science youth camp at the Weizmann Institute, where he graduated with a computer programming course. Thanks to these and other achievements, he gave him free access to the complex computer of Tel Aviv University and he spent hours studying the possibilities of the computer, which is unacceptable to a high school student. In the 12th grade and even during the matriculation exams, he did not abandon his hobbies: mathematics (he used to solve the “mathematics sheets” of the Weizmann Institute), chess, graphology, listening to classical music, accordion, etc. In this class, In his short way, he won the third prize in a national mathematics competition for the most outstanding students at a prestigious competition held at the Technion in Haifa, which earned him an exemption from the Technion’s Faculty of Mathematics and the first year scholarship, which led to an unusual invitation to attend. His studies in the twelfth grade – as a research assistant in the Department of Environmental Sciences, In the framework of the academic reserve, Zvika preferred the company and insisted that he, as a member of a youth movement, With his comrades in Hagshama, to Nahal. Zvi was drafted into the IDF in mid-November 1971 and the year after basic training he divided between the “Gesher” outpost in the Golan Heights and Kibbutz “Gvulot.” From the kibbutz, Zvika was transferred to the Armored Corps and after completing his studies at the Armored Corps School, Kibbutz “Gvulot” and was appointed to the nuclear treasurer. Of course, Tsvika put all his talent at the disposal of the kibbutz and members mentioned: “From the day Tsvika received the role of treasurer – there is suddenly money.”When the Yom Kippur War broke out, Zvika’s company joined the braking forces operating in the framework of the 7th Brigade, in the area between Hoshenia and Kuneitra, on Wednesday morning, 10 October 1973, after 90 hours of battle, In which he destroyed about 12 enemy tanks, Zvika’s tank was hit at close range by an anti-tank bomb and he was wounded. He was rushed to the first aid point – but there he was pronounced dead. Zvika was brought to eternal rest in the Herzliya cemetery. After his fall, he was promoted to sergeant. Zvika’s parents established a scholarship fund in cooperation with the School of Practical Engineers at Tel Aviv University, which will provide funds to outstanding students who have difficulty financing their studies. His memory was immortalized in a booklet published by the School of Practical Engineers.
