Helfman, Benjamin (“Benny”)


Son of Moshe and Shindel. Born on March 15, 1940 in Russia, his parents brought him to Israel via Germany in 1949. He studied at the “Tachkemoni” school in Rehovot, and later studied the electrification profession at the ORT vocational school. He graduated from the ORT school and worked for the Israel Electric Corporation, was drafted into the IDF in November 1957 and completed compulsory military service at the time of the incident, in which he fell in the line of duty on May 4, 1968 ) On the Latrun-Ramallah road, brought to rest in the military cemetery in Rehovot, and placed a wife and two small children – the second was about six months old – and the commander of his unit noted him in a letter of condolences to the family as a responsible and dedicated soldier
