Heiman, Yuval


Yuval, Zahara and Moshe Heiman’s eldest son, was born in Jerusalem in 1993. As an outstanding student, he devoted his full attention to excellence in the study of mathematics and the study of the Land of Israel. Yuval felt a deep connection to the country and traveled extensively in Israel. Yuval was a descendant of great-grandfather Yisrael Moshe Heiman who fell in the War of Independence in defense of Jerusalem. His father served in Sayeret Matkal and Yuval followed in July 2012. He joined the Paratroopers Brigade in July 2012 and was drafted into a battalion. Yuval wanted to play an important role in the Tzuk Eitan campaign and volunteered to play the liaison role of the battalion commander. On 23 Tamuz, 21 July 2014, at 5:30 am, suspicious figures were identified several hundred meters west of Sderot and north of Kibbutz Nir Am. The battalion commander, Yuval and the tracker, got out of the car and were killed when they fought with the terrorist squad. He was twenty-one when he fell. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl, Jerusalem. Survived by parents, brother, two sisters, grandparents, many family and friends. After his fall, Yuval was promoted to second lieutenant.
