Heiman, Abraham (‘Avi’)
Son of Yaakov and Juliet. He was born in the village of Atlit on July 23, 1955. He was the eldest son of the parents who married and built their home in Atlit, where they suffered a severe agony of absorption, and Avi, a handsome blue-eyed boy, studied at the local elementary school. After graduating from the ORT vocational school in Kiryat-Shprinzak, Haifa, he studied electrical engineering, and in order to support his family, Avi worked in a local factory. He was a member of the “Hapoel” Athlit team, and in May 1973 Avi was recruited to the ” HL and placed Armored Force. He was drafted into the same cruel war on the Golan Heights, and was a modest and quiet man who reconstructed his life from the battlefield. The secrets of the Days of Awe that he had gone through. My father’s commander testifies to him, for he fulfilled his duty with devotion and was a good disciplined soldier. On March 31, 1975, Avi fell in the line of duty following an accident. He was brought to eternal rest in Atlit. Survived by his parents, three brothers and two sisters. His name was immortalized in a local synagogue.
