Heib, Mohammed


Son of Manoah and Eli, was born on January 1, 1947 in the village of Majar in the Galilee. As a young man he was a shepherd in his village. In 1979 he enlisted in the IDF and served as a scout, rising to the rank of sergeant and active in the Jordan Valley, serving in the IDF for five years. On April 6, 1984, he traveled on the Ein Fascha road, on his way back from his vacation to the base of his unit. In a collision between the car he was traveling in and a nearby bus, Muhammad was killed. He was 37 when he died. The commander of his unit told him: “As part of his job, Muhammad served at the border and did everything possible to defend our country’s borders faithfully, while performing his duties in the best possible way, while showing dedication and responsibility.” Muhammad was one of the best scouts of the unit.
