Hefetz, Yaakov
Yaakov (Kobi), son of Hannah and Hanan, was born in Kiryat Tivon on March 18, 1953. When he was ten years old, his family moved to Neve Magen, Since he did not fit into the framework of high school, he moved to the Air Force Technical School and spent two years there. In the circle of the family and friends, Kobi was the living spirit: he recited songs, sang and entertained the people. There was not an event that Kobi did not help. Friends and acquaintances admired Kobi for his kindness and integrity, for his frank and direct candor.
Yaakov was drafted into the IDF at the beginning of December 1970. As a graduate of the Air Force Technical School, he found his place in this corps and was trained in an electrical equipment for ground equipment and later in a training, purification and evacuation course Yaakov Muna is responsible for the technical equipment in the radar unit in Sharm al- belongs. He was responsible and dedicated to his job, and even when he came home on vacation, he took care of the unit’s affairs and visited civilian installations that were connected to the IDF in the equipment he was handling, and his friends appreciated his responsibility for the technical equipment. Jacob was called to the rank of sergeant and was awarded the “Operational Service Award.” When the Yom Kippur War broke out, Yaakov did his parents’ house. He was supposed to complete two of his matriculation exams, and gave him a week off to study. On the morning of Yom Kippur he was called to return to his unit, but he did not hesitate to ask what had happened and why he was suddenly called, and when he arrived at the base, he carried his notebooks and books, but when he realized the gravity of the situation he conducted the unit’s rapid organization and ensured the proper functioning of the communications system. On October 6, 1973, Yaakov was hit by the explosion of a missile in an enemy attack on an entire area. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. Survived by father, mother, brother, and sister. After his fall, he was promoted to First Sergeant. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, Defense Minister Moshe Dayan wrote: “Yaakov served in the Air Force. He was a devoted soldier and an excellent friend.
