Hayoun, Amos-Moshe


Son of Victor and Aliza (Victoria). He was born on May 18, 1957, in Be’er Sheva as a young man. He began his studies at the Hazon Ovadia School in the Negev capital. After completing elementary school, he moved to a comprehensive religious school in a theoretical track. He was a diligent, dedicated and serious student – a measure that enabled him to pass his matriculation exams with high grades. Amos therefore saw his future, after the army, continuing his studies in an academic institution. Amos devoted his spare time to his big hobby – reading books. He had another hobby: interest in football – as a spectator in the field and listening to plans in the media. He also set up a soccer team in memory of him and his brother Aharon, and when he was drafted he was not allowed to join the paratroopers, because his brother Aharon, who served in the paratroopers, fell during the war of attrition after the war In August 1975 he wore the IDF uniform and served in the General Staff. His commanders soon recognized his devotion to and loyalty to any role he was assigned, and he was promoted to the rank of First Sergeant. Before Amos could finish his regular service, he suffered a serious illness and fell during service – on the 28th of Tevet 5738 (7.1.1978). He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Beersheba. Survived by his parents, brothers and sisters. Wrote one of Amos’s commanders: “Amos did his job faithfully, showing initiative, responsibility and devotion, worthy of special mention … I can not describe the deep feelings of sorrow and grief that befell us, his commanders and his comrades, when he heard his death.” His direct commander wrote to the bereaved parents: “Ever since I met him, Amos was a loyal and dedicated soldier, fond of his commanders and his unitmates, always with a smile on his lips and never a grudge, First.
