Hasson, David


Son of Dinah and Chaim, was born on the 18th of Av, in the city of Alexandria, Egypt. In 1932, at the age of four, the family immigrated to Israel. When he was six, his parents and relatives killed him and raised him in their home in the Tel Aviv neighborhood of the Caucasus. David graduated from elementary school and began working in the weaving profession. During the War of Independence he enlisted and served in the Givati ​​Brigade. On the night of June 2-3, 1948, during the “Philistine” operation, Givati ​​forces attacked the Egyptian alignment near the Ashdod Bridge (the “Ad Halom” bridge today). The assault was halted by heavy enemy fire and the forces were forced to retreat. The attack did fail, but forced the Egyptians to prepare for the ground and halted their advance northwards. In this battle he fell on the 3rd of Iyar 5708 (June 3, 1948). He was laid to rest at the Warburg military cemetery.
