Hassan, Eliyahu
Son of Misa and Chai. Eliahu was born in Israel on the 5th of Tammuz 5713 (21.6.1953), grew up in Moshav Porat, and studied at the regional school, where he helped his parents in the agricultural farm and did a soldier’s work. On 8 November 1971, Eliahu joined the Border Police, continuing the tradition of his family, all of whom enlisted in the IDF with a spirit of volunteerism and high motivation. He completed basic training and has since served as a combat soldier and as a squad commander in Company H. His commanders testify that he was a fun friend to go out with him to operations and ambushes, a disciplined soldier, pleasant and helpful to others. On the 15th of Tishrei 5734 (October 15, 1973), during the Yom Kippur War, when an ambush on the northern border occurred in the evening, a Border Guard unit encountered terrorists infiltrating Israeli territory in the Tel Sha’ar area. In the clash, three Border Policemen were wounded, including Eliahu. He was seriously injured by a bullet in the stomach. He was rushed to a hospital but died of his wounds that same day. Eliyahu was twenty years old when he fell. He was laid to rest in the Tel Mond cemetery.
