Harris, Zvi (“Tzvika”)
Son of Mordechai and Hannah. He was born on June 4, 1951, in Givatayim. Fourth generation in Israel. He studied at the Borochov Elementary School and later at the Kalai High School – both in Givatayim. He was a member of the Hanoar Haoved movement in Givatayim. The movement was a kind of social nucleus, in which the members of all groups of the same age were concentrated and they “set the tone” in all events and social life in general. Zvi was a pillar of the nucleus and its place as a social center was organic and natural. He loved animals very much and in the “nest” he had a corner. He was always cheerful and kind and did not change his taste because of special difficulties or moods. He never complained, either in his youth or as a soldier in the army afterward. On trips and camps, he was quick to respond to any request from a friend and help anyone who asked. He loved his friends wholeheartedly, for he was by nature a loving person. In school he was active in sports and especially in basketball, despite a certain handicap in his hand, which stemmed from polio, which struck him when he was three years old. He took part in all sorts of activities that required overcoming various challenges, such as trips and work camps. His great personal education, his sense of humor, and especially his stubbornness, stood at every test hour. Zvi fought in all the formal and indirect ways of enlisting in the IDF and despite his physical limitations, and finally won.In late July 1969 he was drafted into the IDF and joined the Nahal Brigade, along with his friends in the “Einav” He was able to do everything he was required to do (such as holding the rifle and operating it), and he stood by all his difficulties, thanks to his strong will, his sense of humor, his sense of humor and his determination to act and succeed in the service. Like him, he, together with his fellow members of the nucleus, joined the Nahal Brigade. He was proud to have reached the rank and served on the first line, instead of the danger – in the Nahal-Golan, and Zvi was an anti-soldier figure, but in his army service he acted like a disciplined soldier who did everything he had to do with his fellow soldiers. (26.6.1970), was killed by shrapnel in one of the heavy shelling of the settlement, and was brought to eternal rest in the Kiryat Shaul military cemetery, and the commander of the unit wrote his parents a letter of condolence: “Zvi was a member of the” Einavi “group, which volunteered to serve for another period in Nahal-Golan, despite the security tension accompanying the settlement. Churchill, which enabled him to overcome all difficulties. ” After his fall, a book with his history and grades for his character was published in the name of “In Memory”; The monument erected by his friends in his memory at Nahal-Golan was transferred to Kibbutz Afik, a kibbutz belonging to veterans of the HaNoar HaOved movement in Givatayim, and a memorial to Zvi was established.
