Harosh, Abraham

Harosh, Abraham

Son of Yitzhak and Aliza. He was born in 1948 in Alexandria, Egypt, and immigrated to Israel with his family in 1948. Avraham was drafted into the IDF at the end of April 1967 and assigned to the Armored Corps. After completing his course, he was about to be sent to the officers’ course, but he refused, knowing that this would keep him away from combat activity for a few months, so he took care of the armored patrol course. His influence on his classmates was so great that they followed him and volunteered to serve in the Armored Corps unit during the shelling. He remained calm and sometimes wrapped himself in a prayer shawl and phylacteries. Avraham, on December 8, 1969, died during his service and was buried in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
