Haravon, Emanuel (Kurt, Gogo)

Son of Frida and Aryeh, was born on October 18, 1919 in Berlin, the capital of Germany, to a well-to-do family as one of two twin sons. In 1933 as part of Youth Aliyah, he and his brother immigrated to Israel together with their parents. In 1939, he learned of the death of his father, was full of vengeance immediately with his brother joined the British army in the early days of World War II. After his release in 1945, he married and settled in Tel Aviv, worked as a driver but was always enlisted as a veteran member of the Haganah. In January 1948, his twin brother fell, and this shook him badly. Once again he had to avenge his personal revenge in the war, but was forced to wait for the end of his wife’s pregnancy and the son who was born in April 1948 was named after his brother. On May 19, 1948 Emanuel left the house and joined the 7th Brigade. He participated in Operation Ben Nun Bet, the second attack on the Latrun Legion in order to break through the road to Jerusalem. There a force broke into the Latrun police court, but due to the fierce enemy fire the force suffered casualties and was forced to retreat. This battle Emanuel fell, on the 21st of Iyar, May 30, 1948. Survived by his wife Chaya and a son. On the 25th of Cheshvan 5710 (17.11.1949) he was laid to rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
