Handler, David (“Dudi”)

Son of Mordechai and Gizela. He was born on May 12, 1947 in Bucharest, the capital of Romania. The family immigrated to Israel in 1950 and is still a small child. When he arrived, he began studying at the elementary school in Shapir and later attended the Or Etzion High School in the Shapira Center. He belonged to the Bnei Akiva youth movement. Business in agriculture. He was drafted into the IDF in August 1965. He fell in the Kibbutz Dafna orchards when the purpose of the operation was to occupy the Syrian plateau. The half-track, headed by David, exploded at the post, and David found his death, was buried in the military cemetery in Afula and was later transferred to the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
