Due to financial distress at his parents’ home and his desire to support his family, he was given the opportunity to serve as a cook in the unit and to integrate civil service into the service. Dror managed to help his parents financially and wanted to return to the company as a fighter. His commander wrote: “There is nothing that stands in the face of the will of Dror, he was well absorbed and integrated into the company, carried out his task and was prepared to accept any mission.” On the 18th of Av 5785 (5.8.1985) he fell in battle in Lebanon. Dror was hit when his unit attacked a terrorist squad. With him fell Sergeant Cohen Eyal. Dror was laid to rest in the military section of the Segula cemetery in Petah Tikva. Survived by his parents and two brothers – Ariel and Shai. After the battle, the commander wrote: “The two soldiers, Dror and Eyal, rose and stormed in front of the enemy’s bullets, and there is no better proof of their courage and their devotion to the cause.” In a condolence letter to the family, Defense Minister Yitzhak Rabin wrote: “Dror was an excellent soldier and a model member, he gave his life for his homeland, and he fell in Lebanon when his unit attacked a terrorist squad.” His family commemorated him in a Torah library that donated to the Magen Avraham synagogue in Petah Tikva
