Hamu, Keren
Keren, daughter of Rina and Yitzhak Hamu, was born in Haifa in 1976. In December 1994 Keren joined the IDF, and although she loved the nightly entertainment in Haifa, she chose to take an archery course and become a ground-based radar officer at a base far from home. In the early morning hours of June 4, 1996, Keren with Lieutenant Zvi Rogel and First Sergeant Moshe Azvulos set out for a tour of teams in all the outposts in their area. On June 5, 1996, as they were on their way to the base, the vehicle veered off the road and hit an olive tree, killing Keren. She was brought to rest in the military cemetery in Haifa. She was twenty years old. She left behind her parents, a twin sister – Inbal and three other siblings – Gili, Itai and Liron. After her death, Keren was promoted to sergeant.
