Hamo, Saadia
Son of Eliyahu and Aisha. Born in 1918 in the city of Fez, Morocco, he studied in an elementary school but left the classroom to help his parents. Saadia was a member of the Zionist movement, and despite his father’s will, did not want to do business or work as an apprentice in a workshop. When the birth of the State of Israel was announced, Saadia and his parents left Morocco, in August 1948, and came to the shores of the homeland with great dangers. Saadia was drafted into the IDF and served as a driver on the southern front. On Rosh Chodesh Nissan, 31.3.1949 he fell in the line of duty and was laid to rest in the military section of the cemetery in Rehovot.
