Hamer, Moshe

Hamer, Moshe

Son of Bracha and Yitzhak, was born on 28.5.1923 in Novitrag, Poland. At the age of two he immigrated to Israel with his parents, who settled in Haifa. Moses was raised and raised in the spirit of Torah and tradition. He completed only six classes at the Reali School, but even after that, when he was immersed in business and industry, where he showed initiative and understanding, he was more knowledgeable and read and study. His love for the book was expressed in his diverse collection of books. In his belief in man and by his devotion to a friend he has acquired many loving friends. His home was open to them not only as a warm pies but as a small and pleasant cultural center. From the age of 17 he devoted himself to the Haganah and when the War of Independence threw himself into the tasks that were imposed on him and his plan to continue the course was not fulfilled, he spent nights and days serving the people and the land. Although he grew up in the spirit of tradition and was religiously observant, Moshe knew the gravity of the moment and at the time of the greatest danger to the Yishuv he allowed himself – for the first and last time – to desecrate the Sabbath by saying that the saving of life overrides Shabbat. On April 18, 1948, his city fell in battle with Arab gangs who attacked the borders of Mount Carmel and was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Haifa.
