Hamdi, Zechariah
Son of Avraham and Yona. He was born in the city of Ta’az in 1988. He was educated there in “Hadar” and “Yeshivah” and was educated in the spirit of Torah and mitzvot. During the War of Independence he fought heroically and bravely, and later lived with his parents in Kfar Shalem and planted a Yaffa garden of roses near his home. He was with his fellow warriors, and in the course of his duty on the 7 th of Kislev, 5711 (11.11.1956) he fell and was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. The booklet “In Memory” was dedicated to him and to four of his comrades who fell in one of their battalion operations. In the year 5717 his brother established a synagogue in Tel Aviv’s Hatikva neighborhood called Beit-El, named after Zechariah Hamdi.
