Hamdi, Yehuda


Was born in Jerusalem on June 6, 1949. In 1973 he married Livneh and was the father of a son and a daughter. Yehoshua participated in the Yom Kippur War in an engineering corps unit, as an operator of mechanical engineering equipment. In December 1979, he was called to active reserve duty. Yehoshua fell in the line of duty on the 24th of Tevet 5742 (24.12.1979) and was brought to rest at the military cemetery in Be’er Sheva, where he was a wife, son and daughter, parents, sister and brother. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, his commander wrote: “Yehoshua was always outstanding, as if at any moment he could help his comrades and carry out his duties with utmost perfection, diligence and devotion. He had the joy of life, initiative and diligence and won the sympathy of his comrades in the unit. “
