Hamburger, Nimrod
Nimrod, son of Avital and Zvi Hamburger, was born in Mitzpe Aviv in 1984. Nimrod joined the IDF on 20/10/2002. He very much wanted to enlist in a combat unit, but because he was suffering from a health problem, he was assigned to the Signal Corps. During the service Nimrod struggled to raise his profile, and after insistence he succeeded in his struggle and was transferred to the Artillery Corps. With the move, Nimrod was forced to undergo basic training and did so willingly. Despite the difficulties that ensued, Nimrod loved the service in the Artillery Corps. During his service, he was wounded in the hand when a shell fell on it. He was operated on in the Safed hospital and after his recovery he returned to his unit in the artillery. Nimrod completed a full compulsory service in the Artillery Corps. At the end of his regular service, Nimrod was assigned to a reserve unit of the Artillery Corps. As a reserve soldier he participated, among other things, in the Second Lebanon War in 2006. Sergeant Nimrod was killed in the course of his duty on 17 November 2010, three days after he began his reserve duty at the age of 26. He was laid to rest in the Kfar Hahoresh cemetery, leaving parents, two sisters and two brothers.
