Hamami, Yaakov


Son of Simcha and Aharon, was born on September 25, 1929 in Jerusalem, to a poor family with many children and completed elementary school when he was 15 and decided not to be a burden on his parents’ home. He studied in a group of youth who was educated in the kibbutz as part of the “Hahotrim” group and excelled in responsibility and devotion, participated in Hagana training and was particularly talented in touring and throwing grenades.” Yaakov was wounded on February 1, 1948, He was transferred to Hadassa and died but died of his wounds on March 10, 1948. He was buried in Sanhedria in Jerusalem, and on the 15th of Cheshvan 5702 (November 15, 1951) he was transferred to a rest- World at the military cemetery at Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
