Haliva, Yosef (“Yossi”)


Son of Shimon and Chaya. He was born in 1941 in the city of Sala, Morocco, where he immigrated to Israel in 1951. He studied at the David Yellin Elementary School and after graduating studied printing at the Brandeis vocational school. “Working and Studying Youth” worked as a printer and found his bread in this profession, and in August 1959 he was drafted into the IDF. After completing his regular army service, he went to reserve duty and was also called during the Six-Day War, during which he fell as a member of the Armored Corps when the enemy was attacked. On the 27th of Iyar 5727 (June 6, 1967), it is the second day of the battles. He left a wife and a daughter. Was laid to rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. The commander of his unit in the letter of condolence to his family notes that Yosef “bravely fought like a Jewish soldier in his unit.”
