Halfon, Shmuel (Shmulik)

Shmuel, son of Allegra Simcha and Aaron Halfon, was born on the 8th of Tevet 5725 (13.12.1964) in Jaffa, the eldest son of his parents and the first grandson, who was spoiled with love by all of them. Shmulik was a military man in his blood. He did reserve duty 3-4 times a year. Even when his wife was nine months pregnant, he went to reserve duty and told her, “If you need me, call me.” He did his service faithfully. In the last five years of his life he served as a quartermaster. Shmulik always took care of his soldiers and became a thoughtful commander. Shmulik fell in battle on the northern border during the Second Lebanon War on August 6, 2006, at the age of forty-two. Shmulik was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Holon. Survived by a wife, three sons, a mother and a brother. After his death he was promoted to lieutenant.
