Halevy, Gabriel (‘Gabi’)

Gabriel ben Yisroel and Sarah. He was born on September 26, 1959, in Petah Tikva, to a well-to-do family of Yemenite origin. At the end of July 1978, Gaby was drafted into the IDF. Gabi underwent additional medical examinations and was found fit for a heavy-duty driving course and was assigned to the maintenance corps. His military career and all his dreams and plans were cut off when on the 2nd of Elul 5738, September 6, 1978) he fell while carrying out his duties. He was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Petah Tikva, his hometown. Survived by his parents, three sisters and two brothers. The family members commemorated Gabi’s precious memory, among other things, by placing a wall clock in the synagogue where they pray.
