Halabi, Rami

He went on to the Kuftan Halabi junior high school, and after completing high school, he continued to study at the Northern College in Afula. Rami was active in the youth movements and Gadna in Daliyat al-Carmel and contributed greatly to the community, and he liked to play soccer and watch basketball games, especially the games of the Maccabi Tel Aviv team. He did most of his military service in the Gaza Strip, at the District Coordination and Liaison Office. During his twenty-one years of service in the army, and in the variety of positions he filled, he contributed greatly to the security of the state while sacrificing and endangering life in various operations in the Gaza Strip. In 1991, he went to an officers’ course, and at the end he was sent to the Rafah district, where he served as an operations officer. He served for one year as commander of the Erez checkpoint, another year as commander of the Sufa checkpoint and later as commander of the Liaison Bureau in Rafah. Later, he served as a liaison officer at the Karni crossing, prior to the head of the Operations Branch in the Headquarters Division, and in his last position served as the head of the Civil Coordination and Liaison Section. Rami’s main contribution was the provision of humanitarian aid to the Palestinian population, and he received the respect and respect of the residents with whom he had contact. As a token of appreciation for his many years of work, Rami was awarded many certificates of excellence and was sent to complete his academic studies, which eventually earned him the title of Industrial and Management Engineer. Rami was particularly prominent in the interpersonal relationship he developed with those around him – both in the army and in society. Soon he became an admired commander among his subordinates and colleagues in the army and among his friends and acquaintances in civilian life. Survived by a pregnant woman, two daughters and a son, parents and eight brothers – Yosef, Fuad, Ziad, Rabah, Falah, Mahna, Faiz and Barakat. On his grave, the words: “Your good memory will remain engraved in our hearts forever.” In his letter of condolence to the bereaved family, the commander of the unit wrote: “Rami the officer, the man, the family man, was a prominent figure in the unit, a pillar of the professional aspect. He was endowed with a sense of humor, and his kindness and constant smile were an example, and the tragedy of Rami’s death is a gap that will not be filled, but his memory will forever be etched in our hearts. ” In a memorial and memorial ceremony held in honor of Rami in March 2006, two months after his death, his commander, Lt. Col. Mustafa Zidan, eulogized the coordination branch at the District Coordination and Liaison Headquarters: “We remember, and will never forget, 23 January 2006. Two months have passed since then, Rami, you began your military service in 1983, most of which you did in the Gaza Strip, you began your career as a soldier, a NCO and a senior counter. It was clear to you, Rami, that awful evening, because you were in a particularly high mood. You said you had plans, but these were cut off at will. The hand of fate has robbed you of all of us, leaving us with a blank face, refusing to believe, finding it hard to digest the bitter news from Sam, the gospel that you have gone. Dear Halabi family, You have raised a son and a man to glory and pride, who worked to build his future and to ensure the future of his family, and no less so – acted to protect his homeland and contributed greatly to its security while serving as a bridge between us and the Palestinian people. Rami’s legacy left many stunned and hurt.
