Halabi, Najib


Son of Fatma and Saleh. Najib was born in the village of Yirka on 1 July 1937. He acquired his education at the village school. He left his studies to help his family, and later, when he joined the police, completed his studies. On June 1, 1969, Najib joined the Border Police. He served in Company Z as a tracker. During his service, he received decorations and the letter of the Yom Kippur War. Najib married and built a house in his village, he had nine children. Parallel to life in the village and Border Guard activity, he worked in various jobs. Najib’s social relations focused on the village and his unit, and were expressed in the spirit of volunteering and helping others and their families. He loved simplicity and his family, and was always surrounded by people who loved and admired him. His passion for hunting and shooting with a gun was great. On August 29, 1975, when Sergeant Najib was the force guarding the Kissinger operation in the student dormitories in Jerusalem, he was killed by gunfire from his roommate. Thirty-eight years old. He was buried in the cemetery in Yarka. Survived by a wife and nine children
