Halabi, Amin
Son of Mohammed and Rafika. Was born on August 12, 1959, in the village of Beit Jann, in the Upper Galilee, to a Druze family with many children. Amin studied in the kindergarten and school in his hometown. He was one of the best students in his class. He was especially keen to learn Hebrew and was aware that when he acquired a basic knowledge of the language, he would benefit from his future and contribute to society and the state. After finishing elementary school, he completed his education by reading books and newspapers and by watching television. The economic situation at home was not good. The father made a living from his agricultural work, and Amin was Simcha for every opportunity he was given to help plowing and planting. He felt a deep spiritual connection to the land of his forefathers. He regretted that he would not be able to continue his studies, but realized that it was necessary for him, because of the family situation, to go to work until his enlistment in the IDF. In this framework he traveled extensively throughout the country. Also engaged in sports, especially in the volleyball industry. True, he was more inclined to play soccer, but the conditions in the village did not allow him to engage in this industry. On May 18, 1977, the day came when he wished him: joining the IDF, he chose to join a unit of the Druze community, and in the company of his friends he embarked on his first training in the infantry, on 21.8.1977 he fell while he was still in service, 18, was buried in his hometown and left behind his parents, brother and five sisters, and Amin wrote to the bereaved family: “Amin was blessed with a spirit of volunteerism and dedication, and he succeeded in instilling trust in his friends and commanders. To serve his country with honor, and unfortunately our hopes were cut off in stone. “
