Hakim, Shlomo


Son of Shifra and Mordechai, was born on July 21, 1929 in Tel Aviv. He wanted to continue to acquire general education at the Gymnasium, but when he saw the cramped material situation at home, he agreed to his parents’ advice and began studying at the Max Payne vocational school. He was a member of the youth movement “The Young Maccabee” and wanted to leave after completing his studies for training in the village, and again rejected the realization of his desire to recognize the importance of his help to his parents. When he was offered a paramedics’ course, he refused at first, hoping that he would soon pass to the IAF and repair aircraft, but that was not possible and he accepted the law. After finishing the course, he returned to his unit and went to battle in the south and in the Negev. In his capacity as a medic, he showed great ability and self-sacrifice. On the night of July 17-18, Operation “Death to the Intruder” was carried out in an attempt to break through the road to the Negev. His company attacked the village of Beit ‘Afa (together with the landing company from the navy), but the attack failed and the force was forced to withdraw. In this battle he was seriously injured and transferred to Bilu Hospital, and after three days, on 21 July 1948, he died of his wounds and was brought to rest in the Nachlat Yitzhak military cemetery.
