Hajaj, Lily

Hajaj, Lily

Daughter of Asher and Golia. Born on 17 March 1952 in Tel Aviv, she studied at the “Givat HaTmarim” elementary school in Jaffa and at Tel Aviv Municipal High School, and was very active in the Gadna and was attracted to kibbutz life. Was very proactive in social activities at school and loved to help others. Lily liked to learn, and she often helped her deaf-mute friend in her studies. They had studied together for the matriculation exams when Lily prepared her friend for the exams and, thanks to her, to a great extent, her friend successfully passed the exams. Lilly’s excellent achievements at high school earned her a trip abroad (Holland, Switzerland and Italy) as part of a campaign for immigration to Israel. On the 23rd of Adar 5731 (March 20, 1971), only eight months later, she fell during her service. She was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul.
