Haizman, Avraham (Aryeh)

Avraham, son of Esther and Mendel Haizman, was born on September 8, 1925 in Jerusalem and was educated from his childhood in the spirit of ultra-Orthodox Judaism. He studied at the “Etz Chaim” Talmud Torah in Jerusalem, and later at Yeshivat “Itor Rabbinim” near the Yeshivat Etz Chaim Yeshiva. In 1943 he joined the ranks of the Haganah and many of the religious youth followed him. On the 11th of Shevat 5708 (January 22, 1948), he headed his class for sabotage in the Arab village of Castel. After completing the mission, on the way back to the base, he fell from an enemy bullet and was brought to rest at the military cemetery on Mount of Olives.
