Haimon, Shmuel


Was born on July 29, 1919, in the city of Bobruisk, USSR When he was 6 years old Shmuel immigrated with his family to Eretz Israel and the family settled in Haifa Shmuel studied elementary and high school in the Reali School and was a student During his studies he was active in the “Scouts” movement, where he continued his engineering studies at the Technion and completed his studies with distinction, and during his studies he underwent many training in the Haganah and was appointed commander of the Hagash. At the outbreak of the War of Independence, following the UN General Assembly resolution on the Partition Plan (November 29, 1947), two Jews were murdered in the village LED-al-Sheikh by Arab mobs and their vehicles burned. It was decided to retaliate. A fighting force of the “Carmeli” brigade to which Shmuel belonged attacked the village bus station with weapons and grenades. On the first day of Adar I 5708 (February 10, 1948), Shmuel died of an illness and was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery in Haifa.
