Haim, Menachem-Armando


Son of Leon and Esther. He was born on the 11th of Tevet 5626 (11.1.1927) in Trieste, Italy, where he also studied. Haim-Menachem specialized in carpentry and worked in his profession until the Germans took control of Italy. During World War II he hid in Rome and when it ended in 1945 he immigrated to Palestine with the help of the soldiers of the Jewish Brigade. Immediately upon his arrival in Israel he joined the ranks of the Haganah and was a devoted and active member. For his livelihood, he worked as a carpenter at the Tel Aviv port. After the UN resolution on the establishment of the State of Israel, he volunteered for combat service and took part in the battles for the breakthrough to Jerusalem, on the 20th of Adar II 5703 (March 31, 1948) he fell in battle in Hulda. And there he was also laid to rest.
