Hagoel, Samuel

Son of Shaul and Malka. Was born on March 30, 1932 in Salonika, Greece. When his parents immigrated to Israel he was a year old and settled in the south of Tel Aviv. When he arrived, he began studying at the Bialik Elementary School and after graduating he continued to study at the Max Payne Vocational High School. Shmuel tended to the sport and belonged to Hapoel. He was drafted into the IDF and served as a sports instructor, where he took a wife, then went on reserve duty, completed an officers’ course and reached the rank of lieutenant, working as a locksmith in large factories. His work was mainly in the kibbutzim, Shmuel saw great satisfaction, and Shmuel was also an artistic side, because in the evening he devoted himself to drawing and belonged to a special department for the study of painting. Six days later, Shmuel was called to the flag and was one of the first recruits, and a month later he was released for ten days. He was conscripted again, and before his release he died at the time of his service, on the 18th of Tammuz 5727 (18.7.1967) in the south of the country. Left a wife and three children; Their youngest daughter was about two and a half months old when her father fell. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. His memory was included in the municipal information and local life magazine published by the Givatayim Municipality and in the “Book of the Fallen” published by the municipality.
