Haga, Eliyahu (“Eli”)


Eliyahu, son of Jacob and Esther Haga, was born in Baghdad in 1943. His parents immigrated to Israel in 1951. In November 1962 Eliyahu completed his regular service and he was occasionally called up for reserve duty. In the Six-Day War, Eliyahu fell in a battle that took place in the region of Umm Kataf in Sinai on the first day of the fighting, on the 26th of Iyar 5727 (5.6.1967). He was buried in the military emergency cemetery in Bari and was later transferred to eternal rest in the Kiryat Shaul military cemetery.
