Haezrachi, Meir (“Mickey”)


Son of Yitzhak and Aviva. Was born on September 12, 1953 in Jerusalem and attended the Yefe Nof Elementary School and the Boyer High School in Jerusalem. The principal of the high school remembers him as “a thoughtful, sensitive and conspicuous boy in the landscape of his peers.” Meir was a member of the Scouts movement and excelled in target practice and in a sports and basketball course held in Nahalal. Mickey played classical guitar, especially Flamenco, read many literature and philosophy and loved to visit the theater. Although he had an extensive circle of acquaintances, he was a boy with a sensitive soul, quite introverted, fighting for justice and unable to accept injustice and injustice. Mickey joined the IDF in early November 1971 and volunteered to serve in the Armored Corps. He later completed a brigade commander’s course and was assigned to a reconnaissance unit that spent most of his time on the canal line and was given the “Operational Service Certificate.” On 29 April 1973, T. Meir during his service and was put to rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. In a letter of condolence to the family, his commander wrote: “From the first day Meir arrived at the unit, he was discovered to be quiet, comfortable, loving and helpful. I remember those days when we noted to his commanders with great satisfaction his ability to work and diligence, which stood out above the rest of his friends. “A memorial corner was erected by his parents at the youth hostel in Kiryat Anavim, named after his grandfather, Meir the ezrachi.
