Hadad, Shmuel

Son of Avraham and Simchah. He was born on 29 December 1953 in Netanya and attended the “Tachkemoni” elementary school and the Bar Ilan high school, both in Netanya. He was a disciplined child, a good student who liked society and wanted his friends. He was interested in sports, especially soccer, and he loved light music – mainly soul songs. His room was decorated with pictures of his favorite singers and actors, and most of the dances were held in this room. He was a devoted son to his parents and a friend and brother to his younger brothers and sisters. He was meticulous about the commandment of honoring a father and always made sure that when the father returned from his work the embers and narghile would be ready for him. Shmuel enlisted in the IDF in mid-September 1971 and volunteered to serve in the Armored Corps, and served as a driver to the satisfaction of his superiors On October 27, 1972, Corporal Shmuel fell in the line of duty. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Netanya. In a letter of condolence to the family, his commander wrote: “Your son was a loyal and dedicated soldier and loved his commanders and comrades.” His death was a severe blow to everyone who knew him. A Torah scroll in his memory was brought by his family to the Segula Synagogue in Netanya.
