Hadad, Rivka (Ricky)


Daughter of Sarah and Rafael. She was born on the 18th of Tevet 5731 (18.1.1971) in Jerusalem. A third child of a family of five. Ricky studied at Stone Elementary School in Jerusalem and at the university’s high school. She was a good student, an intelligent and sensitive girl and very socially involved. At the end of August 1989, Riki was drafted into a compulsory army service, completed basic training, was sent to a Paratroopers Course, received the rank of corporal and was sent to serve at the Tel Nof base. According to her commander, Ricki was a good, disciplined soldier who performed her role with dedication and efficiency. On the 13th of Sivan 5706 (June 6, 1990), Riki fell in the line of duty. She died in a traffic accident on the Tel Nof road, when she went to the unit where she served. She was laid to rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. Survived by her parents, two sisters – Chana and Meggie, and two brothers – Chai and Shami. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, the unit commander wrote: “The late Riki was on her way to work, to which she volunteered as a parachutist. She was responsible for the life of paratroopers who parachuted into parachutes, skillfully and impeccably folded … Ricki was a cheerful, lively soldier, acceptable to all her friends and commanders. “The family commemorated her in the Jerusalem synagogue.
