Hadad (Barzilai), Yosef

Son of-Nechama and Shimon, was born in 1932 in Petah Tikva and grew up in the Mahane Yehuda neighborhood. He graduated from the local elementary school and began working in orchards, picking and packing. He was a member of Hanoar Haoved and active in the local branch. His instructors saw him as a talented and promising young man, developed above his age and ahead of growing up. He excelled in a friendly spirit and gladly fulfilled every task he was given. After the outbreak of the War of Independence he volunteered and served in the Alexandroni Brigade. Joseph fell in Wadi Ara on the first of Iyar 5708 (May 10, 1948) and he was 16. He was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery in Petach Tikva.
