Hacohen, Yonatan (Yoni)


Son of Meira and Avraham, was born on 30.11.1951 in Kibbutz Beit Alpha. He was drafted into the IDF in February 1970 and was assigned to the Armored Corps. In the Yom Kippur War, Yoni fought fiercely in the Suez Canal, and after the war he was awarded the Medal of Valor. Yonatan was killed in the course of his mission, when the “Kfir” plane that flew in the skies of Sinai crashed on the night of April 15, 1980, and was brought to rest in the military section of Beit Alpha cemetery. He left behind a mother, a sister, and two brothers.
