Hacohen, Eliyahu

Hacohen, Eliyahu

Ben Rachel and Nathan. Born on 10 June 1962 in Moshav Nachla, in the Lachish region, he studied at Yehuda Halevi Elementary School and later at the Yad Binyamin High School near the Mesmiya Junction, Eliahu had many friends in his free time after school and work, his favorite subjects were basketball and soccer games, and Torah reading, and he was always known for his love of Torah and for her great love for people, just as the sources say. All over the country, because he had the gift of liking people, from small to large, wherever he was. He was in a hurry to make peace between the hawks, if someone in the moshav was in need of help, immediately called Eliahu and everyone knew that once things were in his hands it was possible to be certain that everything would work out in the best possible way.In May 1980, And was stationed as a driver at an ammunition base in southern Israel. Throughout his army service, despite the great difficulty, Eliahu continued to work in his family’s farm and tried to help as best he could. Upon his release, he returned to the moshav and found his livelihood in the farm, in the fruit and vegetable groves. Eliahu was a clear Zionist and loved the people and the homeland with a strong love. As was his habit, he spent long hours with friends, jokes and stories. On the 5th of Iyar 5751 (April 19, 1991), Eliahu fell during his service and was laid to rest in the military section of the Zabdiel cemetery, leaving behind his parents and fourteen brothers and sisters – Shaul, Segula, Shoshana, Yehezkel, Yehiel, Yochanan, Bezalel, Menashe, Yonatan, Yefet, Nechama, Uri and Yael, who commemorated his memory by donating a Torah scroll named ‘Elijah’ – in his name – to the Etz Raanan Synagogue in Moshav Nachla.
