Son of Tina and Pinchas, was born in Yavneh on March 21, 1953. A few months after the establishment of the state, in 1949, shortly after their marriage, Shmuel’s parents immigrated to Israel from Libya, his grandfather was the chief rabbi of Tripoli, Shmuel attended elementary school and junior high school in Yavneh and continued to study at a vocational school in the framework of the “Tamatzat” program, where he began to work in order to help support the large family. , And Shmuel was assigned to ensure the family’s agriculture, and as a result, the date of his enlistment was postponed by one year, and in June 1975, Shmuel enlisted and served in the Armored Corps. And even passed basic training and training truck drivers, and in January 1976 he was promoted to corporal. A year later, Shmuel was promoted to sergeant. He completed a course for half-track drivers, the main profession in which he served in the IDF, in compulsory service and in reserve duty. Despite his many difficulties at home, Shmuel fulfilled his obligations to the IDF to the satisfaction of his superiors, and after returning from regular army service, he returned to work in the family tractor, which was largely dependent on him. , He was with the force that broke through the terrorist strongholds immediately after the outbreak of hostilities. On the fifth day of the war, on June 10, 1982, planes bombed the armored column of his battalion, which advanced in the Bekaa Valley. Shmuel was killed in the bombing. He was 29 years old when he died. He was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Rehovot. He left behind his parents, two brothers and four sisters. Defense Minister Ariel Sharon wrote in a letter of condolence to his family: “Shmuel gave his life for his homeland, he was a devoted and loyal soldier, and he did his job in the best possible way. The commander of his unit wrote to his family: “He was a good truck driver and he functioned effectively both in employment and in training.” To commemorate his memory, holy books were placed in the synagogue where Shmuel prayed in Yavneh.
