Habib, Moshe (“Mush”)

Moshe, son of Shlomo and Benvenida Habib, was born in Istanbul, Turkey on May 5, 1930; he immigrated to Israel with his parents in 1935. In the midst of the War of Independence in June 1948, he completed a course in the Palmach and joined the Negev Brigade. In the Six Day War he was in reserve duty. In Givat Ham, Moshe fell from a direct hit by a mortar shell in the half-track. It was on the fifth day of the fighting, on the 1st of Sivan 5727 (June 9, 1967), and he was buried in the military cemetery in Afula and later taken to the eternal rest of the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul.
