Habib, Menashe (Manny)
Son of Israel and Fortuna (Mazal). He was born on the 11th of Kislev 5739 (23.12.1958) in Holon. He studied for four years at the Borochov elementary school in Holon. Afterward, the family moved to Rehovot and spent the next five years at the De-Shalit school in the city, where Manny thought of working as a clerk and studying private bookkeeping, and finally preferred a vocational school and worked in electricity, construction and industrial electricity. He was a member of the Hanoar Haoved Vehalomed youth movement and was well integrated into all social activities, and his favorite sport, in which he was also active, was basketball, he knew how to play guitar, and the music filled most of his free time. When he was about to enlist in the IDF in November 1976, Manny wanted to join a combat unit and not engage in a song And two. He dreamed of serving in the Paratroopers Brigade, but was assigned to the Golani Brigade and was not sorry about that. A letter from his commander to the bereaved family attests to his letter in the IDF: “Menashe arrived at the battalion after completing basic training at the brigade training base and was integrated into the unit as a regular combatant in the role of the RNT. This role fulfilled to the satisfaction of all his commanders. As someone who has been closely following his integration into the battalion for more than a year, under my command, I can say that the Golani service has turned him from a nice, quiet and modest child into a wiry man. When the role of the Magistrate in his company was vacated, he was the first to demand it. In a known operational company, this role, a difficult task requiring a high level of skill and alertness, was given to the best fighters in the group. And as such he took upon himself the role of love, and his love for the job made him love his unit. They all remember the days, who handled the MAG more than any other soldier in the company, and went on exercises carrying extra ammunition on his back, and he had the physical strength to help his friends, who had difficulty performing their task. The family has lost a son, the Golani family has lost a friend and a brave fighter. ” On the 9th of Adar 2, 5738 (18.3.1988) Menashe fell in the line of duty at the beginning of the Litani operation to destroy the terrorists’ assets in South Lebanon and was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery in Holon. A Torah scroll in his name in a synagogue in Rehovot.
