Gutman, Shlomo
Was born in Munich, Germany, on June 28, 1928. He immigrated to Israel with his parents in early 1936 and settled in Jerusalem, where he studied at the Beit Hakerem High School, grew up in a cultured atmosphere at his father’s home, He was a member of the Scout Movement and a member of the Haganah, and since age 16 he was active in the Haganah, where he studied at the Kadoori School and completed his studies there. Was to study later in the agricultural sciences abroad, but the War of Independence broke out and he enlisted with his group in the Palmach and was sent to the ” John. Shlomo participated in January 1948 in an attack on the village of Ein Zeitun and in February – as a sabotage operative in Sasa. In April he infiltrated with his platoon to the besieged Safed and participated in guarding, ambushing, and stopping Arab attacks on the Jewish Quarter. In the battles for the liberation of the city he fell on the 5th of Nissan 5708 (May 5, 1948) in an attempt to conquer the fortress hill. Shlomo was brought to rest in the military cemetery in Safed.
