Gutman, Nachum


Son of Feivush. He was born in 1913 in Bukovina, Romania. Was born to a poor family, one of four children who had been brought up with the labor of a diligent mother and a sick father. After graduating from elementary school and high school and studying a profession, in 1935 he immigrated to Eretz Israel and joined Hakibbutz Hameuhad. He worked as a laborer in Nes Ziona, on the roads and in the orchards of the settlement and the surrounding area. During the 1936 riots Nachum was among the guardians of the orchards, and on 30 June 1936, in one of the gang attacks on the moshava, he was wounded mortally. He was laid to rest in the old cemetery in Tel Aviv. He left a wife and a daughter.
