Gutman, Israel (Izzy)


Son of-Mendel. He was an active member of the Hashomer Hatzair youth movement in his city, and in December 1940 he boarded the ship “Darian 2”, which was captured by the British Navy after three months of wandering in the sea. Were transferred to the detention camp in Atlit and held there for a year and a half, and after he was released, Izzy joined Kibbutz Shamir, where his kibbutz members were already abroad, and later joined the Haganah and underwent training as part of the “Supplementary Nutriments”. On October 28, 1944, during training in Ramat Yohanan, Izzy was accidentally killed by a bullet that hit his eye. – The old cemetery of Kibbutz Ramat Yochanan, where parents and a sister put it: “Izzy, the cheerful boy, the devoted observer, the responsible guard, the strong and outstanding athlete.
